Otti Commissions 13 Reconstructed Roads in Aba

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has commissioned thirteen newly reconstructed roads in Aba, marking a significant milestone in the state’s ongoing urban renewal and infrastructure development agenda.

The roads inaugurated include Umuode Road, Bakassi Road, Isu Ihiteukwa Street, Asa Road, Enyimba Junction–Ariaria Gate Road, and rehabilitated sections of Market Road (from Asa to Eziukwu Road), Tenant Road (from Asa Road to Eziukwu Road), Cameroun Road, Ehi Road (from Queens Road to Eziukwu Road), Clifford Road, School Road (from Asa Road to Railway Crossing), and Afikpo Road (from Eziukwu Road to School Road).

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at St. Joseph’s College, Aba, Governor Otti emphasized that urban renewal and improved infrastructure are vital to driving the economic growth of any city.

He said the interconnected road network reflects his administration’s commitment to revitalizing the Aba Urban Corridor and enhancing mobility, business efficiency, and community well-being.

“These roads are more than just concrete and asphalt—they are lifelines that will boost commerce, enhance urban living, and rekindle hope for our communities,” the Governor said.

Governor Otti also expressed appreciation for the patience shown by Aba residents in the face of years of infrastructural neglect.

He encouraged citizens to protect public assets and uphold civic responsibilities, including prompt tax payment.

In response to concerns raised by the school community, the Governor pledged immediate action to address water supply issues at St. Joseph’s College and affirmed continued support for public schools across the state to uplift educational standards.

The Commissioner for Works, Mr. Otumchere Oti, disclosed that the 13 roads cover a total length of 5.34 kilometers, with widths ranging from 7.3 to 15 meters.

The projects were executed through the direct labour initiative of the State Ministry of Works.
