Over 90,000 Apply for TVET Programme Within Days of Launch — Education Minister

The Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, has announced that over 90,000 applications have been received just days after the launch of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative.

Dr. Alausa made the announcement via his Twitter handle, describing the surge in interest as an incredible show of enthusiasm for skills development across Nigeria.

He said the Ministry is thrilled by the overwhelming response to the initiative, which aims to equip Nigerian youths with industry-relevant skills for self-reliance and improved employability.

To avoid delays during the application process, the Minister advised applicants to ensure that the names on their Bank Verification Number (BVN) and National Identification Number (NIN) match.

He also assured Nigerians that the government is working to resolve any technical issues faced by applicants during the registration process.

The Federal Government officially launched the TVET initiative on Friday, May 30, 2025.

It offers training through Vocational Enterprise Institutes (VEIs) and Skills Training Centres (STCs), with globally recognized certification for beneficiaries.
