Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria, RATTAWU, is to partner National Broadcast Academy, Lagos, the training arm of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, in training its members.
The national president of the union, Prince Emeka Kalu, stated this when he led a delegation of RATTAWU, to the Academy.
Prince Kalu, who expressed delight that the NBA has contributed immensely to eliminating quacks in the industry, noted that no broadcaster in Nigeria could consider himself professionally successful without having undergone training at the NBA.
Prince Kalu explained that his vision was to turn RATTAWU into a centre of excellence, where education could be used as a tool for the overall revitalisation of the union.
In a response, the Director of NBA, Dr Sam Anyanwu, who accorded a warm welcome to Prince Kalu and his entourage, expressed the hope that the new leadership of RATTAWU would improve the welfare of members.
The Director assured the visiting RATTAWU president of the readiness of the institute to offer qualitative training to members of the union, to enable them to prepare against the loss of jobs as a result of the introduction of Artificial intelligence.
NBA management at the reception of the RATTAWU President, included the Director of Academic Planning, Princess Adenike Adegoke and the Bursar, Mrs Oluwakemi Idowu.
Correspondent Festus Alikwe reports that the entourage of RATTAWU president included the popular musician, Mr John Asiemo, known as Daddy Showkey, the vice president of RATTAWU, South-West, Comrade Felix Komolafe, and the Lagos State chapter chairman, Comrade Adejumo Ishola.
