WaterAid Nigeria, Cummins donates Laboratory Consumables, Water Quality Equipment to LASWARCO

In a bid to improve water safety, an NGO WaterAid Nigeria has donated Laboratory consumables and Water quality equipment to the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission, LASWARCO, for the benefit of all residents.

Water quality equipment and consumables encompass a wide range of tools and supplies used for assessing and maintaining the purity of water.

Receiving the donation at Alausa, Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources in the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Mr Mahmood Adegbite, thanked the donors, saying the equipment will assist in testing water quality before supply to residents which would help eliminate water borne diseases.

“This donation is coming at a time of need especially in purification of water in the Lekki axis of the state, we are grateful and we promise to use the chemical reagents and equipment for the benefit of all residents to have assess to safe, clean and potable water”

Earlier, WaterAid Nigeria Head of Lagos Office, Dr Adebayo Alao and representative of the development partner, Cummins, Mr Bobo Nwandu, maintained that assess to clean, safe and potable water is a fundamental human right in line with SDG goal 6.

The Duo challenged the Lagos State government to build on the donation and increase funding for LASWARCO to enable it deliver on its mandate using qualitative parameters for purity of water.

“We charged the Lagos State government to leverage on this donation and provide more for this Agency as what we have donated is not near one hundred percent of their needs, so the state government should increase allocation to LASWARCO because sanitation, safe water are essential to residents well-being.”

Some of the donated items

The donation includes instruments for measuring various parameters like pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity, as well as consumables like test kits, reagents, and filters.
