Kano Pillars continued to strengthen their quest to retain the title as they earned a vital win over Confluence Stars on day 6 of the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League season 5 phase 2 in Lagos.
The defending champions easily defeated the Lokoja based Confluence Stars with comfortable 31-19 victory today at the University of Lagos Sports Complex Hall to continue their lead in the men’s category.
Lagos teams enjoyed a great day on the court with Seasider Boys defeating Police Machine 29-22 while Tojemarine Academy topped Rima Strikers 33-25 to jump into the top 5 of the table.
Second placed Safety Shooters, after suffering a painful defeat on day 5, bounced back with an emphatic 34-17 victory over 9th placed Benue Buffaloes while Niger United enjoyed a comfortable 29-19 victory over De Defenders.
The women’s teams rested today to resume action tomorrow.
Meanwhile the Handball Federation of Nigeria organised a seminar for referees and coaches in the ongoing Premier League season 5 phase 2 on the new rules of the game at the University of Lagos Sports Center Conference Hall.
The seminar was conducting by Monsieur Diabate Momodou, the Internatoinal Handball Federation (IHF) PRC member and an instructor for the Confederation of Africa Handball (CAHB) alongside the invited Referees El-Saed Yasmina and El-Saed Heidy from Egypt.
