Sanwo-Olu promises non-Shortage of Teachers In Lagos State

The Lagos state government says it will continue to ensure that there is no shortage of teachers in the state teaching service in order to sustain the quality of education in public schools.

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu gave the assurance at the 2022 World Teachers Day Celebration held at the Teachers Pavillion, Agindingbi, Ikeja.

He said there was a formidable strategy on ground to ensure that as teachers were retiring from the teaching service, the government would be recruiting new ones to replace them.

He also assured the teachers that the government would not relent in its efforts at exposing them to sound periodic capacity training

The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo urged the teachers to reciprocate the Lagos State government’s kind guesture to them in the state by carrying out their duties effectively in the classroom.

She stressed that teachers should not only be teachers to their students in school but parents and guardians to them in the classroom so that the school and the home could join hands in bringing up Children that would take the nation to a greater height in the nearest furure.

In an address, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Lagos State, Mr. Akintoye Hassan thanked the Lagos State government for taking care of teachers in Lagos state.

He appreciated the government for paying the salaries of teachers promptly and promoting them as at when due.

He assured the government that teachers in Lagos State would continue to put in their best in the classroom.

The highlights of the event was the presentation of awards to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his exemplary performance in taking care of teachers in the state.
