Nigeria’s Yellow Greens Punch U19 ICC Qualifying Semi Final Ticket

Nigeria’s Junior Yellow-Greens defeated their West African arch rivals, Sierra Leone by 11runs at the ongoing Under 19 International Cricket Council (ICC), Africa division 2, World Cup qualifier at the Cricket pitch, of MKO Abiola National stadium Abuja .

Nigeria won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 184 runs all out in 47.4 overs.Selim Salau scored 65 runs off 136 balls , Paul Pam scored 46 runs off 80 balls. Sierra Leone’s Ibrahim Kamara took 4 wickets in 7 overs conceded 36 runs, George Sesay , and Eric Musa Turay all took 3 wickets.

In the second innings, Sierra Leone chased 173 runs all out in 41.5 overs, sensational John Bangura put up 89 runs off 120 balls not out, while George Sesay’s 22 runs off 23 runs was not enough to cancel Nigeria’s 184 runs deficit.

Prosper Oseni of Nigeria bowled 6.5 overs, conceded 26 runs with 6 wickets and captain Ridwane Abdulkareem bowled 6 overs, conceded 29 runs with 2 wickets which gave Yellow-Greens the victory.

Next up for Nigeria is Malawi in Friday’s semifinal.
