Sanwo-Olu Tasks APC Reconciliation Committee To Unite Party Members & Strengthen Democracy

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has charged the All Progressives Congress, APC’s National Reconciliation Committee to unite all party members in the country, especially in States where there are differences within the party.

Governor Sanwo-Olu gave the charge when the Reconciliation Committee Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu led other members to the Lagos House, Marina on a courtesy visit (on Thursday)

Noting that the APC remains the party to beat in Lagos and one that everyone want to identify with, Governor Sanwo-Olu said he would continue to learn from other States and to ensure the building of a stronger and bigger party, providing the dividends of democracy the benefits of which can be seen in every nooks and crannies to the citizens of the country.

Advising the committee to deploy wisdom and patience in resolving issues among aggrieved members in other States, Governor Sanwo-Olu
expressed confidence in the Committee’s ability to successfully carry out the assignment, and hope that the outcomes of the intervention would strengthen unity in the party and further deepen democracy in the country.

“We are lucky in Lagos that there is no petition. It is not that we are better than States that do have but because indeed this is a party to beat and it is a party that everybody wants to be identified with. Given the calibre of eminent Nigerians and members serving on the Committee, I am certain that the outcomes of these interventions that you have taken up will be very fruitful and the outcome will further strengthen unity in the party and will further deepen democracy in our country.” He said.

Commending the Lagos State Governor for running an all inclusive government, Senator Abdullahi
said he was happy that the Reconciliation Committee had not received any petition or complaints from Party members int the State, pointing out that this was an indication of the good working relationship amongst party stakeholders in Lagos State.

“This is encouraging and this kind of state of affairs does not just come by accident, it goes to show the extent to which his Excellency (Governor Sanwo-Olu) and his team have been able to manage the party’s affairs in the state, how they have been able to advance the interests of the very complex party membership in Lagos. We commend you and the people, particularly party members,” he said.

Members of the APC Reconciliation Committee, including a former Deputy Governor of Lagos, Dr Oluranti Adebule are on a tour of States in the Southwest to fulfill the Committee’s mandate to reconcile aggrieved members and ensure peace within the party ahead of next year’s general election.
