Sierra Leone’s Stars Hit Liberia in Readiness for AFCON 2023 Qualifier with Nigeria

The Leone Stars of Sierra Leone have landed in Moronvvia, Liberia venue of this Sunday’s AFCON 2023 qualifier with Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

Coach John Keister’s final 25-man squad, featuring 11 foreign-based and 14 home-based players, travelled through the Sierra Leone-Liberian border.

For super comfort, the Stars have checked in at the five star Boulevard Palace hotel ahead of the crucial tie with the Eagles.

Meanwhile the Super Eagles will round off their preparations today in Lagos before jetting out to Liberia tomorrow for the match.

All the 23 players invited by coach Jose Paseiro are in camp with the likes of Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze and Simon Moses adding more shine to the already glittering squad.

Meanwhile the Confederation of African Football CAF has selected Mahmood Ali Ismail from Sudan to officiate the AFCON 2023 qualifying encounter between Nigeria and Sierra Leone on June 18.

Ismail will be assisted by Mohammed Ibrahim, Liban Ahmed, 4th official Mohamed Guedi, while the referee assessor is Kokou Djaoupe.

Sunday’s game between Nigeria and Sierra Leone will kick off at 5PM at the Samuel Kanyon Doe stadium in Liberia.
