The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command, has confirmed a multiple-vehicle road traffic crash that occurred early Friday morning along the Otedola Bridge axis in Lagos.
The crash, which happened at about 5:55 a.m., involved three commercial trucks and three adult male occupants. One person sustained injuries, while no life was lost.
According to the Sector Public Education Officer, Superintendent Route Commander Oluwadamilola Jayeola, preliminary findings showed that the crash was caused by excessive speeding, which led to loss of control despite the road being in good condition at the time.
FRSC operatives responded to the distress call within five minutes and promptly rescued the injured victim, who was taken to a nearby emergency hospital for medical treatment.
FRSC officials, working with the Nigeria Police Force, Fire Service and other relevant agencies, are currently managing traffic and overseeing the safe removal of the crashed vehicles to restore free flow of traffic in the area.
The Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, has advised motorists to strictly observe speed limits, maintain lane discipline and exercise caution, particularly along the steep sections of Otedola Bridge, to prevent avoidable crashes.
