The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) is to submit a revised 2026 Hajj fares within two days, following President Bola Tinubu’s directive for an immediate review.
Vice President Kashim Shettima said the review became necessary due to the continued appreciation of the naira against the dollar, which remains the key determinant of pilgrimage costs.
The Vice President, who conveyed the President’s order during a meeting with NAHCON management and board members at the Presidential Villa, urged close collaboration among national and state officials including state governors to streamline and adopt new, realistic fares.
He further emphasized the need for prompt payments and timely remittances to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to ensure a smooth and hitch-free Hajj operation.
