President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially sworn in the newly appointed Service Chiefs, urging them to uphold professionalism, discipline, and patriotism in carrying out their duties.
The brief ceremony was held at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and witnessed by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and other senior government officials.
Also present were the spouses of the Service Chiefs, who watched as their partners took the oaths of allegiance and office before the President.
Those inaugurated include General Olufemi Oluyede, appointed Chief of Defence Staff; Lt. General Wahidi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff; Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, Chief of Air Staff; and Admiral Idi Abbas, Chief of Naval Staff. Lt. General Emmanuel Undiendeye retained his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
President Tinubu congratulated the officers and reminded them that their appointments come with “enormous responsibility” to restore peace across the country and protect citizens’ lives and property.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to reforming Nigeria’s security architecture and promoting stronger inter-agency collaboration to improve efficiency.
The ceremony marks another milestone in Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to strengthen national security and enhance coordination among the armed forces.
