Traditional Ruler, NYCN Partner to Boost Youth Development in Lagos East

The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Lagos East Chapter, has intensified efforts to strengthen youth engagement and community development through strategic collaboration with traditional institutions.

This formed the focus of a courtesy visit by the council to the Orijeru of Igbooye Kingdom, AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa, during a leadership retreat in the area.

Led by the Lagos East Vice Coordinator, Asoro Abubakree Olatunji, the delegation said the engagement was aimed at reinforcing partnerships that promote youth inclusion and empowerment at the grassroots.

The council commended the monarch for his role in advancing youth-focused initiatives, noting that his leadership has contributed to increased participation of young people in community development.

They also highlighted growing collaboration between the palace and youth bodies, citing the appointment of Sunday Otunnowo as Personal Assistant to the monarch while serving within the council as a sign of mutual trust and cooperation.

The visit further provided an opportunity for the council to outline its programmes and priorities, particularly in leadership development and youth advocacy.

Responding, Oba AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa reaffirmed his commitment to supporting youth-driven initiatives, stressing the importance of discipline, focus and active participation in nation-building.

He encouraged members of the council to remain dedicated to their goals and assured them of continued royal support for programmes that positively impact young people.

The monarch also offered prayers for the success of the council’s retreat and contributed to support its activities.
