The Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Professor Folasade Ogunsola, has announced that the disparity between full-time students and those in the Distance Learning Institute (DLI) has been eliminated.
Speaking during the fourth international colloquium of the DLI, Professor Ogunsola said the university had harmonised admission screening and academic standards for both streams to ensure equal quality and recognition.
She noted that graduates from the two programmes now receive the same certificates, a deliberate step aimed at ending the stigma that previously affected distance learning graduates in the labour market.
While highlighting the achievement, the Vice Chancellor identified technology access and internet connectivity as continuing challenges, especially for students in rural areas.
