US Restates Commitment to Cordial Relationship with Nigeria

The United States is committed to strengthening the aluring U.S.-Nigeria relationship, investing in the partnership for the benefit of the two countries.

This was the submission of U.S Consul General, Mr. William Steven at the farewell reception in Ikoyi for the outgone Public Affairs officer, Mr. Joseph Kruzich.

The event also served as a welcome party for the Consulate’s new Public Affairs Officers, Ms. Julia McKay and Amanda Roach Brown.

Mr Steven, who commended Mr. Kruzich, for his selfless service to the consulate, said he would be greatly missed.

In his farewell speech, Mr. Kruzich stressed that the past 31 years had been the most eventful period in his life, while the strong and active engagement of the Consulate in advancing promotion and protection of human rights was always at the forefront.

He said both Nigeria and the US have demonstrated the importance of the relationship they share by collaborating in many ways.

Speaking on behalf of her colleague, the new Public Affairs officer, Ms Julia McKay, promised that they would leverage on the already laid down relationship by her predecessor by providing factual information on any matter.

Ms. McKay, who also stressed the importance of promoting an enabling environment that reduces barriers and facilitates women’s full participation in the economy, said she is determined to make a change.

Highlights of the event were Nigeria cultural display and tribute to honour Mr. Kruzich.
