The United States government has announced it will revoke the visa of Colombian President Gustavo Petro following his call for US soldiers to disobey President Donald Trump.
The remarks, made during a pro-Palestinian rally in New York, were described by the US State Department as “reckless and incendiary.”
President Petro, who was in the US for the UN General Assembly, had earlier urged a criminal inquiry into the Trump administration’s airstrikes on suspected drug-trafficking boats in the Caribbean.
Reports indicate the Colombian leader was already en route to Bogotá when Washington declared his visa cancellation.
