Deputy Governor of Lagos state, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat
Government officials, Religious Leaders and other well to do Nigerians have been advised to adopt children or widows of military officials that lost their lives in the the cause of defending the peace and security of the country.
This is with the aim of supporting them financially to cope with some financial challenges associated with loosing a bread winner.
The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat gave the advice at a special Jumat Service to commemorate the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day held at Lagos Secretariat Community Central Mosque, Alausa-Ikeja, Lagos.
According to him, adopting children or widows of the nation’s fallen heroes with the aim of supporting them financially in any way possible will assist the beneficiaries in taking care of some of their needs.
Dr. Hamzat explained that the financial challenges being faced by some widows in coping with various responsibilities after the death of their husbands were usually enormous.
While the Deputy Governor prayed for the families of the fallen Heroes, he urged Nigerians to always join government in finding solutions to problems confronting the society so as to have a bouyant economy and a peaceful nation.
Reading the Holy Qur’an chapter Twenty-two verse forty, the leader of the Tijaniyya Islamic sect, Alhaji Lamido Sanusi who is also a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria said the Quran never supported the acts of killing people as it was being reported in the country lately.
He explained that the only reason a Muslim was parmitted to attack his fellow human being was in a case of self defence particularly, when attacked by an enemy.
He therefore, called on those killing innocent people in the country to desist from such act.
Alhaji Sanusi later took out time to.pray for the nation’s fallen heroes and the family they left behind.
In an address, Air Officer Commanding Logistic Command, Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Mashal Abubakar Abdullahi, appreciates the federal government, particularly, President Bola Tinubu’s administration for supporting the military in various ways with the aim of boosting the morale of the officers to put in their best in what they do.
Different Imams at the event later took their turns to pray for the falling heroes, their families, the Lagos State Government and the country at large.
