Five suspected miscreants, touts and scavengers have been apprehended at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos.
This follows a raid carried out by the Joint Monitoring Task Force at the Joint Users Hydrant Installation (JUHI) Canal and the Access Road Bridge were the suspects were arrested.
In a statement, the Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Obiageli Orah said, shanties utilized by these individuals were dismantled.
Mrs. Orah expressed concern over the JUHI canal turning into a potential hideout for criminals near the Hajj and Cargo Bridge.
She said, the suspects have been handed over to the Aviation Security Crime Investigation and Intelligence Unit for further questioning.
FAAN issued a stern warning against any encroachment into the airport environment, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for vandalism or touting activities.
