Widows Smile as NGO Shares Cash Gifts in Badagry Federation

It was a moment of joy and relief for widows in Badagry as a non-governmental organisation, Senayon Olufemi Kuton Foundation (SOK), distributed cash gifts to 250 beneficiaries across the Badagry Federation.

The outreach programme, held at Attah, Badagry Roundabout, attracted widows from different communities, who expressed gratitude for the timely support amid prevailing economic challenges.

Speaking at the event, the Bishop of the Methodist Church, Badagry, Rt. Ven. Dr. Sunday Ola-Onadipe, urged philanthropists and well-meaning Nigerians to cultivate the habit of giving to the less privileged, noting that such acts would contribute to improving the nation’s economic and social well-being.

The cleric, who commended the founder of the Senayon Olufemi Kuton Foundation for sustaining the initiative over the years, also advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the cash support to improve their livelihoods.

In his remarks, the Council Manager of Ojo Local Government, Sir Sejoro Asokere, cautioned the widows against spending the money solely on Christmas celebrations, encouraging them instead to invest it wisely with the aim of multiplying the value by the following year.

Some beneficiaries of last year’s edition, while giving testimonies, said the twenty thousand naira cash gift they received helped them to start small-scale trading businesses, which now serve as a source of income for their families.

The event also featured the presentation of an award to the initiator of the NGO, Mr. Senayon Olufemi Kuton, by the President of the National Association of Badagry Students, Comrade Gbeyon Sewanu Ayomide, in recognition of his humanitarian contributions.
