Hunpe Visits LASTMA Boss, Mourns Fallen Officer, Promises Traffic Reforms

The Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Mr. Babatunde Hunpe, has paid a courtesy and condolence visit to the General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, following the tragic death of LASTMA officer Rasaki Tajudeen at the Badagry Roundabout.

During the visit, the Chairman was received alongside LASTMA’s Director of Operations, Mr. Gbejemede Peter.

Mr. Hunpe described the late officer as a committed and dedicated public servant who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the entire LASTMA workforce, noting that the loss is deeply felt across Badagry and Lagos State as a whole.

He further assured that the Badagry Local Government would personally reach out to the family of the deceased officer, as well as others affected by the incident, to provide necessary support and assistance during this difficult period.

The Chairman also used the visit to highlight his administration’s comprehensive plan for the ongoing reorganisation of the Badagry Roundabout.

According to him, the initiative forms part of a structured urban mobility and public safety framework aimed at decongesting traffic, regulating commercial transport operations, eliminating indiscriminate roadside trading, and restoring order along one of Lagos State’s busiest gateway corridors.

In his response, the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed appreciation to Mr. Hunpe for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of responsible and compassionate leadership.

He reaffirmed LASTMA’s commitment to continued collaboration with the Badagry Local Government to enhance traffic safety, improve compliance, and maintain lasting order at the Badagry Roundabout and surrounding areas.
