Traditional rulers in Ikorodu have thrown their weight behind the Lagos State Government’s push to strengthen primary healthcare delivery in the area.
The commitment followed an engagement meeting with officials of Health District Two, held at the Palace of the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba AbdulKabir Adewale Shotobi.Speaking at the forum, the Permanent Secretary of the District, Dr. Dayo Lajide, stressed the importance of preventive healthcare in tackling growing health challenges. She urged residents to embrace healthier lifestyles through regular blood pressure checks, improved diets, and exercise to reduce the risks of hypertension and diabetes.Dr. Lajide also reaffirmed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to quality healthcare through infrastructure upgrades and encouraged residents to enrol in the Ilera Eko Health Insurance Scheme.On his part, Oba Shotobi reminded participants that community health is a shared responsibility. He called for collective efforts to sensitise residents on healthy living while appealing for stronger government intervention in primary healthcare service delivery.
