Lawmakers Mourn Victims of Mokwa Flood, Aba Billboard Tragedy

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajudeen, has expressed deep sorrow over the devastating flood disaster in Mokwa, Niger State, which claimed over 100 lives, displaced thousands, and destroyed property.

In a condolence message conveyed through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Dr. Tajudeen described the tragedy as heartbreaking and urged the affected residents and Governor Mohammed Umar Bago to remain resilient in the face of the disaster.

He offered prayers for the souls of the departed and comfort for their grieving families.Similarly, Deputy Speaker of the House, Mr. Benjamin Kalu, extended condolences to the people and government of Niger State following the severe flooding that ravaged Mokwa Local Government Area.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, Kalu also sympathized with families affected by the recent billboard collapse in Aba, Abia State, which killed a tricycle passenger and injured several others.

He urged relevant government agencies to urgently provide relief materials and support to victims of both tragedies.

Both presiding officers of the House reaffirmed their commitment to supporting disaster response and mitigation efforts nationwide.
