Markets in Onitsha, Anambra State, will reopen on Monday, February 2, following an interactive session between Governor Chukwuma Soludo and market leaders across the state.
The meeting, held at the International Convention Centre in Awka, brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on the resumption of business activities, particularly on Mondays.
Governor Soludo reaffirmed his administration’s determination to bring an end to the sit-at-home order in the state, stressing that economic activities must not be disrupted.
He assured traders of improved security, pledging to strengthen the security architecture in and around markets to promptly respond to any threats.
The governor urged market leaders to support the government’s efforts by encouraging traders to resume normal business operations.
It will be recalled that markets were shut on Monday, January 26, after traders complied with a sit-at-home directive issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
