Security Officers’ Wives Unite for Health, Wellness, Empowerment Summit

Wives of officers of the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, and Police have joined forces in Lagos for a Joint Health and Wellness Empowerment Summit, aimed at promoting emotional wellbeing, family stability, and community support among security households.

The event, organised by the She Safety and Health Initiative in collaboration with the Defence and Police Officers Wives Associations, was led by the Initiative’s Founder, Ambassador Mabel Abel-Onaiwo.

The summit seeks to strengthen the support network for officers’ families, recognising the demanding nature of military and policing duties.

Ambassador Abel-Onaiwo described the partnership as a legacy of resilience and empowerment, noting that women who are healthy and emotionally balanced contribute greatly to stable families, stronger institutions, and national development.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, lauded the initiative, emphasizing that mental and emotional health remain vital for security personnel and their families.

He pledged the Police Command’s continued collaboration in welfare-driven programmes.

Also speaking, the Chairperson of the Lagos State Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Mrs. Risqot Jimoh, praised the collaboration as a symbol of unity and commitment to strengthening family support systems.

She encouraged women to remain intentional about peace-building and emotional wellness at home.

The summit featured awareness sessions, group counselling, and interactive discussions, and will be extended to police divisions and military formations across Lagos State.
